The Start of the Trip

The Start of the Trip

Well we did it, we managed to fit all our stuff into four carry-ons and four backpacks. Not a single item more. The kids have plenty of room in both their luggage and their backpacks. The hardest part I found to packing, was fitting the liquids into four small quart bags. The 3.5-oz limit per item was fine, it was squeezing in all them all into quart bags. These little bags are bound to burst! I did bring extras, we'll see if it's enough extras.

We flew to LAX first, in connection to Hawaii. It was a long haul over here folks. 10 hours of flying, plus time waiting for connection in Los Angeles. we ared in Kauai at 2am Eastern Time, 8pm local Island Time (not sure what the time zone is called here...). Then picked up rental car, hit the grocery store for breakfast items and off to bed! Checking into our VRBO was a synch, nice and smooth and we went right to bed. Except for Steve who insisted on drinking a local Hawaiian beer frist that he purchased at the grocery store, FoodLand.

With a beer stocked with breakfast and beer, we called it a night. 10pm local time, 4am back in Atlanta. EXHAUSTED!

LAX Layover Meal
It was a long trip, longer that I was really prepared for. Amazing just how far away Hawaii is! In Los Angeles during a layover we caught dinner and exchanged some Thai Bahts. I'm a little on the worried side when we fly into Thailand. It's our first international stop. I've never been, don't speak the language, we'll arrive late and will be very jet lagged. I felt better having a little local currency to get us by. Although, I plan to Uber to our AirBnB. Yes, Thailand has UBER!

Kauai with a beer stocked fridge
Priorties people. We are on VACATION. We arrived at 8pm in Hawaii, our body clock still on Eastern time, puts us at 2am. We picked up our rental car and headed to Princeville. While in Kauai, we're staying at a VRBO condo in Princeville. We hit the local grocery store, Foodland, grabbed breakfast items and a few 6 packs of local Hawaiian beer.
